The Stockwork Zone (Mac) occurrence is located on an unnamed tributary of the Chukachida River, approximately 3.5 kilometres southwest of Mount McNamara and 261 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.
The area is underlain by marine sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. These have been intruded by the Early Jurassic Black Lake intrusive suite consisting of generally medium-grained granodiorite to quartz monzonite.
Locally, a quartz monzonite plug is bounded on the east and west by andesite flows and bladed feldspar porphyry flows. The entire monzonite plug has approximately 1 per cent quartz stockwork with veins ranging from 3 millimetres to 30 centimetres. Chalcopyrite concentration in the quartz stockwork ranges from 1-10 per cent. Mineralization is concentrated along a north-south lineament near the eastern boundary of the monzonite body. Overburden and lack of outcrop north of the quartz monzonite plug inhibited geological mapping and prospecting north into the valley bottom (ca. 2006, Assessment Report 28646).
In 2004, an outcrop sample (192665) of quartz veining with 10 per cent chalcopyrite from the occurrence area assayed 4.5 grams per tonne silver and greater than 1.00 per cent copper, whereas a float sample (192651) of quartz-calcite veining with chalcopyrite, taken approximately 800 metres to the north, yielded 3.8 grams per tonne silver and 3.12 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27633).
Also at this time, an outcrop sample (192666) from a 15-centimetre wide quartz vein with chalcopyrite in a propylitic-altered hostrock, located approximately 1.2 kilometres to the northeast, assayed 2.0 grams per tonne silver and 0.744 per cent copper (Assessment Report 27633).
In 2006, a grab sample from the north end of the Stockwork Zone yielded 0.77 per cent copper from a 10-centimetre quartz vein with 3 to 5 per cent finely disseminated chalcopyrite. A one metre chip sample from the south end of the zone assayed 1.58 per cent copper testing the monzonite footwall, hangingwall and quartz vein (Assessment Report 28646).
Also at this time, a chip sample (G-06327) of quartz veinlets with hematite on the Mac South zone, located on a ridge approximately 1.2 kilometres to the southeast, yielded 0.675 gram per tonne gold over 0.7 metre (Assessment Report 28646).
Work History
In 1981 and 1982, Golden Rule Resources Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the QBX 1-12 claims.
In 1984, Newmont Exploration of Canada Ltd. completed a program geological mapping, geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the area as the Lynx 1-7 claims.
In 1986, Toodoggone Gold Inc. completed a 278 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey on the area as the Fisher 1-2 and Wolverine 1-2 claims.
In 1997, the area was staked as the McNamara 1-4 claims by R.T. Heard and a program of prospecting and minor rock sampling was completed.
From 2004 to 2006, Stealth Minerals Limited completed exploration programs of soil and rock geochemical sampling, prospecting and geological mapping as a part of its Toodoggone project.
In 2017, Sable Resources Ltd. completed a helicopter-borne geophysical survey over the Bot property which included radiometric, magnetic, and ZTEM data. In 2018, Talisker Resources Ltd. conducted prospecting of geophysical anomalies (identified in the 2017 survey) located on the northern half of the Bot property, some coincident with historically reported mineralization of which the Stockwork Zone is included. A total of 148 rock, silt and talus samples were collected and submitted for assay.
